About GoTourist

GoTourist is a guide to the places the world most wants to see. Each list follows a published ranking, and each destination gets its own in-depth page.

Our lists and where they come from

Top 100 City Destinations

The world's 100 leading city destinations, in the order of Euromonitor International's Top 100 City Destinations Index 2025. The index scores cities on 55 metrics across six pillars: economic and business performance, tourism performance, tourism infrastructure, tourism policy and attractiveness, health and safety, and sustainability.

Ranks 1–10 plus 13 and 17–19 have been checked against Euromonitor's press release and CNN's coverage. Ranks 11–100 come from the full list as republished by Vacations & Travel (vacationstravel.com, April 2026); Euromonitor's own full table is in its paid report. The index measures overall attractiveness, not visitor numbers alone.

Top Landmarks & Attractions

The world's most-loved attractions, in the order of Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards: Best of the Best Things to Do 2026, Top Attractions in the World. The ranking is based on the volume and quality of traveller reviews and ratings over 12 months. Tripadvisor publishes 25 winners; we list all of them and do not pad the list.

The order follows Tripadvisor's official list page as of 25 September 2026 (25 entries). That page includes NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at No. 10, which isn't in the April 2026 press release, so entries from No. 10 down sit one place lower than in the press release. It is a review-based popularity ranking, not a visitor count.

Top 100 Most Visited Art Museums

The world's 100 most visited art museums, in the order of The Art Newspaper's annual Visitor Figures survey, with the 2025 attendance each museum reported. The survey covers art, archaeology and history museums, but not science or natural history museums.

Visitor numbers are for calendar year 2025, exactly as published by The Art Newspaper, whose data was supplied by the museums themselves. Museums that did not supply data (for example the Uffizi, which could not give per-site figures, and China's state-run museums) are not included, so The Art Newspaper describes its numbering as "for ease of use only". Venues of multi-site institutions are counted separately.

More lists are planned, such as beaches, national parks, islands and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We'll add each one only when a reputable published ranking exists for it. A place can appear in more than one list: the Louvre, for example, is both a top Tripadvisor attraction and the world's most visited art museum, and it has a single page.

We're writing full guides from the top of each list downwards. Pages marked "coming soon" show the place's rank and source while its guide is being written. On your phone, every guide has an "Open in Maps" button that opens the place in Google Maps or Apple Maps.
