Overview
Tenerife, in the Atlantic off north-west Africa, is the largest of Spain's Canary Islands. At its centre, Mount Teide rises to 3,715 m, the highest point in Spain, in Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The island combines resort beaches in the south with green valleys, historic towns and laurel forest in the north.

Best time to visit
All year, thanks to mild weather. Winter is popular with Northern Europeans; summer is warm and dry. Teide can be cold and snowy in winter.
