Overview
Nasjonalmuseet, the National Museum of Norway, is No. 88 in The Art Newspaper's survey of the world's most visited art museums, with 878,000 visitors in 2025, down 7% on 2024. It opened in 2022 in a new building by Kleihues + Schuwerk at Vestbanen, beside Oslo's harbour, bringing several national collections under one roof.
Its collection covers art, architecture, design and crafts from antiquity to today, and it is the largest art museum in the Nordic countries.
