Overview
The Royal Castle in Warsaw is No. 43 in The Art Newspaper's survey of the world's most visited art museums, with 1,635,322 visitors in 2025, down 24% on 2024. For centuries it was the residence of the Polish kings, and it stands on Castle Square at the entrance to the Old Town.
The castle was rebuilt between 1971 and 1984, and its richly decorated state rooms have been recreated. It is part of the Historic Centre of Warsaw, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980.
