Overview
The Yokohama Museum of Art is No. 96 in The Art Newspaper's survey of the world's most visited art museums, with 815,931 visitors in 2025. Designed by Kenzo Tange, it opened in 1989 in the Minato Mirai 21 district on Yokohama's waterfront.
After a long renovation, it reopened in 2025. Its collection covers art from the late 19th century to today, with strong holdings of photography and of Japanese and European modern art; it is also a main venue of the Yokohama Triennale.
