Overview
Zion, Utah's first national park, centres on Zion Canyon, cut by the North Fork of the Virgin River.
For much of the year private cars are not allowed on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, and a free shuttle carries visitors to trailheads.
Best time to visit
Spring and autumn. Summer is very hot, and flash floods are a risk in narrow canyons; check forecasts.
