Overview
Cozumel lies off the Yucatán Peninsula, across from Playa del Carmen. Its reefs, part of the Mesoamerican Reef system and largely protected within a national marine park, are known for clear water and drift dives.
San Miguel, the island's town, is a busy cruise port; the wild east coast is mostly undeveloped.
