Overview
Ilha Grande lies off the coast of Rio de Janeiro State, about three hours from the city. Much of it is protected Atlantic rainforest, and there are no cars apart from service vehicles.
Trails and boats link the village of Abraão with dozens of beaches. Ilha Grande and Paraty together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
