Overview

Cachoeira Boca da Onça is No. 11 in Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Best of the Best 2026 ranking of the top attractions in the world. The waterfall is in the municipality of Bodoquena, in the Serra da Bodoquena of Mato Grosso do Sul state, and is usually visited from the ecotourism town of Bonito.

The Boca da Onça ecotour follows a forest trail past a series of waterfalls and natural pools. It ends at the main fall, which the operator describes as the highest waterfall in Mato Grosso do Sul. For adventurous visitors there is also a high rappel descent.

Best time to visit

The drier months, roughly May to September, are generally more comfortable for walking. The summer rainy season, around December to March, is hotter and can affect trails. The park may close in bad weather.
