Overview
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is No. 10 on Tripadvisor's 2026 Travelers' Choice list of the top attractions in the world. NASA's Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, on Florida's Space Coast, is where Apollo astronauts left for the Moon and where Space Shuttle missions began and ended.
The visitor complex, operated on NASA's behalf, displays real spacecraft and hosts exhibits, films and meetings with astronauts. Bus tours head out to the Apollo/Saturn V Center. On some days you can watch a rocket launch from the Cape.

Best time to visit
Arrive at opening time and plan a full day. Florida summers are hot, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and hurricane season runs from June to November. Check the launch schedule if you hope to see a launch.

Practical tips
- Tickets & hours
- Buy tickets online; some tours, astronaut encounters and launch-viewing packages cost extra and sell out. Check the official website for hours and launch-day changes.
- Time needed
- A full day.
- Currency
- US dollar (USD). Cards and phone payments are accepted almost everywhere. Tipping is customary: around 18–20% in sit-down restaurants and a dollar or two per drink in bars.
- Safety
- Bring sun protection and water. The emergency number is 911.
- Visa & entry
- Citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries (including the UK, most EU countries, Australia and Japan) need an approved ESTA before they travel; most other visitors need a visa. Canadian citizens generally need neither for a short visit. Apply only on the official site esta.cbp.dhs.gov and check travel.state.gov for the current rules.
