Overview
M+ is No. 22 in The Art Newspaper's survey of the world's most visited art museums, with 2,601,066 visitors in 2025, unchanged on 2024. Opened in November 2021 in the West Kowloon Cultural District, it is a museum of 20th- and 21st-century visual culture, covering art, design, architecture and the moving image.
The building, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, has a tall slender tower whose harbour-facing facade is an LED screen showing moving-image works at night. Some areas, including the roof garden, are free.

Best time to visit
Weekday mornings are the quietest. Friday evenings, when the museum is open late, are a good time for the harbour views. The museum is closed on Mondays.
